Do we “have” the cure?.....time will tell us.

Years, to generate the knowledge that let us trust that mesenchymal stem cell could be a safe and effective tool for the treatment of patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Months, to be confident that Matías could benefit from an intravenous transplantation of these cells.

Weeks, to get the approvals and to coordinate the best time and way to do it.

Days, to isolate the mesenchymal stem cells –from Mariana’s bone marrow- and expand them in our lab.

Hours, to prepare Matías to receive his mother’s stem cells.

Minutes, for the cells to flow from the syringe to the blood stream of our Crystal's Skin patient.

Hours, for mesenchymal stem cells´s to travel and home into the organs (skin and others), where they are required.

Days, for Mariana’s cells to associate and collaborate with Matías’s cells and -we hope- generate skin cells with the protein necessary to keep them together.

Weeks, -we expect- for Matias’ skin to regenerate, maintain attached to his body and protect him. Perhaps, to observe an improvement of others organs (lung, kidney, liver).

Months, to dream that the beneficial effect will last long. Also, to prove if mesenchymal stem cell transplantation is successful in other patients with EB.

Years to announce that we “have” the cure for Epidermolysis Bullosa and to be able to offer it, with our characteristic professionalism, to our appreciated patients.
